Stampaholic

I am thinking of using my stamp addiction (passion) for the good and not evil... to eventually try to generate some income while enjoying what I love to do. I am putting together a business plan for starting a card/gift online business. I am trying to determine if there are benefits (mainly tax benefits) even if I don't make a profit at first. At least I can cover some of the cost of the supplies that I am purchasing... I love stamping and making gifts... it is what I do to relieve stress... so I am purchasing the supplies anyway... and I am building an inventory of products anyway... that just sit in storage until I gift them.

What do you think? Should I go to through the paperwork hassle to start a business to be able to write off some of my supplies with the hope of turning a profit one day? Anyone have past experience in launching a small business. You know anyone I can talk to? Am I crazy? OK don't answer that one!
